To the younger me

Hello there

I know what your going through, you may think it won’t get any better or nobody loves you. Believe me this will all come to an end very soon. It will come with challenges but you’ll come through the other side even stronger than before.

You will be an aunt to a baby boy called Kyle!! He will bring you happy times and make everything peaceful again. He will call you his ‘best aunty’ when he gets older. You make funny faces at him at he will laugh till you cant breath!!!

Suzanne gets married in 2019 and you and Elaine with 3 other beautiful ladies are going to be bridesmaids. You’ll all get to wear beautiful dresses and shoes with jewellery. You will be nervous but you’ll get there!!!

2020 will be the year nobody forgets. Coronavirus will bring tragedy around the world. It will be declared as a pandemic, but in November there will be announcments that two vaccines will be tested with one being 90pc and the other 95pc. You will become stressed and anxious but you’ll cope by video calling Tuiscint, colouring, zoom and webex with other students from Tuiscint. You will be perfectly fine!

You’ll start to go back into Tuiscint for an hour and a half 2 or 3 days a week. You’ll be stressed trying to get back into the routine before the pandemic but with the right support you’ll get there. You’ve to trust the people around you and communicate when you’re feeling moody or stressed.

For now, you’re just trying to get rid of acid reflux from drinking too much coke, which is one thing I’m trying to stop drinking.

Stay strong, stay safe, stay local

Look beyond the label… Part 2

If you where to look at me, you wouldn’t think that I have:

  • Aspergers Syndrome
  • Emotional and behaivoural disability
  • Anxiety
  • Mild learning disability

Did you notice how I said “I have” and not “I suffer from”?

I shall not allow my disabilities nor my Aspergers define me as a person. Of course with them all combined theres no doubt more challenges, but thats life at the end of the day!

I like to think of it as a different phone platform. Like IOS and android, they both do the same job, rings, texting and emailing! Basic things now a days if you like smart phones.

But what if you didn’t have a smart phone? What if you had just had a basic phone that just rang and texts? It may not be up there with all the latest smart phones, but it still does what a phone is supposed to do, and thats all that matters.

So, theres two individuals, one who has Aspergers (like myself) and a nerotypical (a person without Aspergers). They both can communicate in interests and other things!!! But sometimes with Aspergers or Autism it can be overwhelming with anxiety. Especially in social situations!!!

Stimming for me is a big stress relieve!!! Stimming can be anything, and you don’t need to be Autistic to do it either!!! In fact, people stim without even realising it!!! Like, your in work maybe in a office and your stressed, playing or fidgeting with pens is stimming believe it or not!!!

The real definition of stimming is of follows:

The word Stimming refers to self stimulation behaviours usually repetitive movements or sounds”

I like to shake my hand and my foot when I’m either stressed or anxious, and when I’m excited I make these sounds and start pacing up and down in the hall.

I hope to make another one of these another time. In the mean time, I’ll leave you with this quote.

If you met one person with Autism, then you met one person with Autism

Corona virus lockdown activities

Here is a list of activities I’ve done to keep myself busy during the lockdown that might be interesting for you to do.

  1. Mindful colouring
This one is my favourite. I normally have a few pages printed out or I’ll have adult colouring in front of me. I normally like to listen to relaxing music to help me stay focused.

  2. Listening to relaxing music
Listening to music can help you draw out the noise. So if your like me and you love to stay positive, then listening to relaxation music will help with earphones in! I also love listening to relaxation music before going to sleep at night.

  3. Walks
It has been proving that walking can lower stress. Doing this a few days a week can certainly help when your stressed. Theres nothing like a bit of fresh air!!!

  4. Spend some time with your pets
Dogs, dogs and more dogs!!! If you have any other pet thats brilliant, but I’m a dog person!!! (Sorry cat lovers)

  5. Start your blog
If your like me and like to write (when ever you can).

  6. Talk about what your feeling
Talking about what your feeling to family and friends is so underrated – I’ve had plenty of experiences in the past and I know how hard it can be to get started.

  7. Do arts and crafts
Arts and crafts can be linked in with relaxing colouring. There is plenty of things you can do with household items (I think I might have something on this, link below if I do)

  8. Act silly
Did you ever want to be just a kid again? Well this is your chance to own it!!! No sarcasm intended!!! Hehe!!!

  9. Read a book, mag, newspaper etc
You don’t need to go to the shop to get something to read, theres plenty online, like audible and some newspapers can be found on Google Play or on Apple App Store

  10. Cook a meal
Surely this will make you and someone else happy.

Its been a while

Hello there!!! How has everyone keeping? I’ve been keeping myself busy with going into my centre (EVE Tuicint, for people with Autism or Aspergers syndrome)

Trying to get my routine to some sort of “normality” during and after the lock down was stressful. But I got there in the end….

I stayed busy during the lockdown by doing colouring, written in a diary of how I felt and how the day went on. I even went on small walks!!! Most of the times I ended up falling asleep.
