Make a positive change

I for one hate change! Change does not have to be hated, sometimes we have to go outside our comfort zones to realise the potential we have. It will not work over night, but it will work if you stick with it and take one step at a time. I remember watching the making of Frozen 2! Kristen Bell said she often suffers from depression and anxiety, and there was one song called Next Right Thing where she opens up about the song. She explains how she gets through those anxious or dark times in her life.

One thing she says is
I think The Next Right Thing, it really is for anyone who is feeling low and struggling and does not know what to do. Because the only thing you can do at those lowest moments is one step at a time” You can read more here.

Someone who has Aspergers Syndrome, I find it sometimes hard to adapt to change. Especially when its sudden! I’m always saying that I need to be told in advance if something is going to change, otherwise I might be in bad form after it. So if you are like me and you would rather be told in advance, say it. Theres no harm of expressing your needs and wants, thats what makes us human.

I found this article that might help you. A few things it suggests is to write a diary (it can be anything from dreams to how you’re feeling or what ever happened throughout the day) Meditating is another one thats on the list.

I’ll leave it there so for now. Take care, stay safe

Its ok to….

Asking for help shouldn’t be frowned apon! It should be considered as a strength. Sometimes we just need to cry, talk or even going on a little break.

A little break for me would be travelling on a bus to the last stop and then travelling all the way home again. Some people might think that this is bizarre, but it’s what brings me comfort knowing that I can travel independently. It took me years upon years to get this far.

This may not work for everyone though. Some people might like meditation, me included! Where others might like to go walking while listening to up beat songs! That’s another one I like doing by myself too. Anxiety to one person to another can vary, not everyone has the same symptom! When I’m anxious, I can come across as angry, which is not my intention. Sometimes you just gotta step back and look after yourself and know that your trying your best.

Answering Your Questions

Hi There

So on the 14 of May, I decided to let you guys know me a little bit better. So I decided to post a
Question and Answers blog!

Actually Autistic Blogs List asked:

I most enjoy reading about personal experiences related to being Autistic. There’s never an oversupply of personal accounts because we are all unique.

Great Question! My experience from having Aspergers Syndrome would be some what complicated. I didn’t get diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome until I was 22. Before that, I would start to shout and cry if I didn’t like anything, but I didn’t know why. Anger would just come out of no where and I’d pick it out on my family.

I suppose the first sign was when I started school. My speech was delayed and I was delayed at walking. Being in the 90’s they didn’t have much resources about Autism or Aspergers Syndrome, so my school just put it down as a mild learning disability and emotional and behavioural needs. So I spent all of my childhood, teens and being an adult not knowing that I am Autistic!

When I finally did get diagnosed in early 2014, I hated the fact that I Aspergers dictated my life. I’ve spent so many years having meltdown after meltdown and didn’t know what it was. I felt so angry because I felt like I was let down. I kept thinking “Why didn’t I get diagnosed when I was in school?” For 5 whole months, I felt myself becoming more and more angry. I also kept searching google about traits of Aspergers Syndrome – Which is a big no no!

If anyone has any requests for me to blog, please comment down below in the comment section

How to start thinking positive

Have you ever came across a person who always seems to be happy and positive? I’m sure you have! I have spent years listening to others and think, ‘how can they be so positive and happy’?

Heres a few tips:

  • Keep notice of your thinking patterns – especially those ‘what ifs’
  • Keep track of how your feeling through out the day – keep a diary if it helps, that way you’ll be able to see a pattern after a few weeks.
  • Get Enough Sleep – A good nights sleep can help dramatically
  • Eat Healthy – eating a well balanced meal will make you feel better
  • Get exercise – No, no one is asking you to join the gym, walking is beneficial too
  • Get talking – Talking about on different subjects
  • Make a ‘mental health stop sign’
  • Make a ‘Wellness Tool Box’

The list goes on and on. Its down to preference. In order to keep up the positive thinking is like anything else. You need work on it, it won’t happen over night, but with time and practice, you will become better at it. And remember, just because your having a bad day, don’t start to think that it isn’t working, this is many ways to put positive thinking into practice. After a while, you should start to thinking positive. Everybody has days where they think negative, but its the way we express it that matters.

What have I been up to for the last few months!

Hi there! No time no type, lol!

It seems forever since the last time I blogged. So I thought why not come on and start blogging about what I have been up to over the last 3 months or so! Lets start from the beginning!

Over the last year, there has been talks about my centre moving buildings, but no one knew when. It was near March or the end of February when we moved. While the staff packed everything up from the old building and moving it to the other building, we were giving the two weeks off. I cannot tell you how big of a difference the new building is. And its quite easy to get to aswell. I only need to get one bus and there you go!

Last Wednesday, I was minding my own business in my bedroom, when I heard something outside the window. I was thinking “What the heck is that?” Then I heard again and I checked outside my window and seen this faint image of a kitten (it was dark and it was hard to see) It was walking on my neighbours wall and I thought Id just let it do its business. Then I heard it again, only this time it was louder, so I knew it was outside my bedroom window!

So I got up out of my seat, looked out my window, and there was the kitten outside my window on the extension. So I thought I’d open the window carefully and let the kitten in. By looking at it, it looked to be well fed and taken good care of. I had to put it back out as I have two dogs. The following day, the kitten returned, so I bought the kitten to the vet to see if it had a microchip but sadly it didn’t! I thought that I’d post her on my Facebook page and on other Facebook lost and found pages. Sadly again nobody turned up.

I had no other option but to let the cat stay in my bedroom for the night. My sister then said to me that she got in touch with an animal Foster Care charity, and they got in touch with a girl who fosters kittens. So, after 2 days, we finally gotten somewhere for the kitten to go. I’ll be missing the cat, but I know its somewhere where it can be taken care of properly.

The last and final thing I want to say is that I am going to get the Covid – 19 vaccine soon. My centre only told me this week that I’ll be getting it in the next few days. I’m looking forward to it.

Interesting facts about January

We all know that January is the first month of the year, and there is 31 days in it. We also know it to be a “Dry Month” when it comes to alcohol.

You may or may not have known that January has other things that its known for!!! They are

  • It is named after the two – faced Roman God Janus
The month is named after the Roman God of Doors, because this is the door entering the new year. Janus is also called the “Two Faced God” He represents all things all beginnings and possesses the ability to see the past and the future.
  • History of January
The months January and February did not feature in the earlier versions of the ancient Roman calendar, which divided the year into 10 months, and left 61 days unaccounted for in the winter. They were added around 700 BCE. Originally, January and February were the last months of the calendar year. March was the first month of the year.
  • Wolf Moon
The full moon in January is called Wolf Moon, after howling wolves. The name is thought to have come from the Anglo – Saxton lunar Calendar. Other names are “Moon After Yule”, “Old Moon”, “Snow Moon” and “Ice Moon”, although, the last one is typically used for February.

Having trouble sleeping?

We’ve all been there!!! Tossing and turning, not being able to go to sleep. I myself used to wake up every night for my phone.. This is the worst thing anyone can do at night while going to sleep. Its true that if you go to bed at night and your bedroom light is off and your looking at your phone, your not giving your brain a chance to relax. “Our brains can’t tell the difference between natural light and the kind of light we use on our phones” someone once said to me.

This is true for me, because when I used to wake up during the night for my phone, I would spend a good half an hour or more on my phone playing games or looking on facebook etc. I decided to challenge myself by putting my phone in another room. Some nights its easy, other nights it can be a struggle, but I get there in the end. My main worry was that my alarm would go off and I wouldn’t hear it. That worry is no longer a worry because my body is used to wakening up at a certain time.

***Some of the things I done to get a better nights sleep***

**Made myself a challenge of putting my phone into another room**

**Got into a regular bedtime routine
**

**Colour before going to sleep while listening to meditation
**

**Stress less, sleep more
**

**If you can’t sleep, go into a dark room and only go back to bed when you feel tired enough to sleep
**

**If none of the above work, contact your doctor
