Motivation is hard – but not really

Motivation is hard. If you want to do a challenge, don’t do it in all one go – you’ll only put yourself under pressure then. Instead do small steps that will help you work towards finishing the goal.

Say you wanted to do a bit of art, first think what is it you want to do in art. Then decide whether if you are 100% committed to completing it. It also needs to be realistic, something that you see yourself finishing and being proud of what you achieved.

If you choose to proceed with what you decided to make, get the items you need to start to finish. If your not good at art, thats ok, it doesn’t have to be perfect. But with time and patience, you will get there. Take all the time you need, even do a draft of what you want to make – that way you can learn from your mistakes.

Have a plan to kick back negativity

I for one always believed in ‘go with flow’. Of course we can all go with the flow, its life at the end of the day. There will be days where you won’t always be able to be positive, and thats ok. If you feel like you want to through something on the ground, through tin foil, if you feel like you need to shout, search youtube for funny videos!

Always have a back up plan just in case your first plan doesn’t work. If you can, try and work through negativity – that way your lifting a ton off your chest. If you like to babble (eg talking) then babble!

What if no one is there to listen?
Then get a diary and write in it. Show it to that person when both of you are not busy.

But do I really need to show it to the person?
No, of course not. Whats in your diary is for your eyes only, and if you want to share it, then share it. The whole point of having a diary is to get that heavy load off your chest, so you don’t need to stress out about showing it to anyone else, if you don’t want to.

What if I have problems with my reading and writing?
Thats no problem. Theres other ways of tackling your emotions and you don’t need pen or paper to do it either. If you have a phone you could always record yourself expressing how you feel.

Try and distract yourself from what ever is on your mind. I find when my mind is racing, I tend to get a little cranky. Knowing what triggers negative thinking will help you to to controlling it. And remember, if you feel like you cant always be positive, thats ok too. Rome wasn’t built in a day so give it a day and see how it goes. Don’t be pushing yourself, and treat yourself every now and then. We’re only human at the end of the day.

Its been a while

Hello there!!! How has everyone keeping? I’ve been keeping myself busy with going into my centre (EVE Tuicint, for people with Autism or Aspergers syndrome)

Trying to get my routine to some sort of “normality” during and after the lock down was stressful. But I got there in the end….

I stayed busy during the lockdown by doing colouring, written in a diary of how I felt and how the day went on. I even went on small walks!!! Most of the times I ended up falling asleep.

Its perfectly ok to not to think positive all the time

Yes,  we all get those bad days. I even get those days where I just want to wind down and not be bothered with anyone. Usually when I’m out and about by myself would be my time to help me relax. I normally have my headphones on listening to upbeat songs, while on the bus (usually end up fallen asleep).

I then try to brush things off by thinking more exciting things like going to the shop or spending time with my family or even more simply playing with my dogs. I just randomly go up stairs to my bedroom and start to meditate. Again I’d end up falling asleep…. Getting the drift here are ye! Sleep cures everything ha!
